Leisure Farm – Johor
For those of us who aspire to a more harmonious lifestyle, the idea of a home environment that provides a resort-style experience all year round is particularly appealing. This concept is explored at Leisure Farm, an award-winning development from Mulpha International that offers a wide range of sporting and leisure facilities.
The double-gated and guarded development is set among 1700 acres of landscaped parks. It is surrounded by natural mangroves, orchards, canals, plantations and 280 acres of golf course. The development has seven themed areas, each with its own distinctive architecture and landscapes.
Leisure Farm’s Pinggiran Bayou Village Homes is a waterside gated development of 122 villas with a strong Mediterranean design theme. The villas have rooftop gardens and decks, double-volume living spaces, and private garden courtyards. The community is one of the first residential projects in the region to explore green architecture, says Ronn Yong, general manager of Mulpha International. “The homes take maximum advantage of the natural contours of the land. Their design uses natural ventilation, recycled rain water and local construction materials,” he says. Within the Bayou Grove precinct, the Linear House bungalows have a modern country living feel, says Yong. Each bungalow has two distinct zones, one for public and one for private living. The two areas are separated by a linear water feature that begins at the entrance and culminates in the infinity pool at the rear of the house. Visitors to the Balinese-inspired Bale Equestrian and Country Club can relax around a beach lagoon pool. The pool includes a Jacuzzi and sunken pool bar set among a rockscape.
A cluster of handwoven conical roofs provides a relaxed, tropical ambience, as well as a distinctive landmark within Leisure Farm. Bale’s equestrian centre has stabling for 72 horses and an equestrian field that meets international standards. Canal Park provides a green backdrop to the residential, recreational and cultural facilities of Leisure Farm. The five-acre park is surrounded by hundreds of mature trees. Pockets of grassland are connected by a series of linear ponds that are linked by streams. A nature walk follows the canal waterways, offering opportunities for trekking, fishing and bird watching. “Canal Park links all neighbourhoods and community hubs together, and allows residents to meet and enjoy a wide range of outdoor activities,” says Yong.
Other amenities at Leisure Farm include the Porresia Golf and Country Club and the Kayu Manis orchard and nursery. Leisure Farm lies within the growth area of IDR, Iskandar Development Region, and is within easy reach of metropolitan Singapore and Johor Bahru city centre.
